Buying property with a private well?

By request, Watchmen will inspect well heads, pressure tanks, wires, pressure switches, gauges, pumps, pipes and more. Defects leading to compromised water include corrosion, leaks, and proximity to contaminants. There are many different types of well construction, so a proper diagnosis might require a more invasive and prolonged test by a licensed well installer.

Do I need my water tested?

If you have a private well, the Department of Health strongly recommends that you:

test your water for coliform bacteria (such as E. coli) & nitrates at least once a year.

Routine water testing is a simple and inexpensive measure you can take to ensure that your water supply is safe and to protect your family's health. While bacteria and nitrate are the most common threats to your drinking water, your well may also be susceptible to other contaminants.

Upon request, Watchmen can test well water for coliform bacteria, nitrates, & lead.

If your well water is contaminated, you may need to disinfect your well, repair your water system, or install treatment equipment.
